Gordon, Stover earn Player of the Week honors

The BLITZ Fan Vote for Football Player of the Week saw 35,533 votes come in, with Javin Gordon (Stephens) taking the most at 11,533. BLITZ then named Keegan Stover (Rabun) as Co-POW.

JAVIN GORDON – STEPHENS COUNTY

Javin Gordon has been a bowling ball all season long, knocking over would-be tacklers as if a rolling stone over twigs. The sophomore running back picked up 138 rushing yds and a pair of TDs against #7-ranked Flowery Branch in a statement win for the Indians. Gordon added 34 kickoff return yds, and on the other side of the ball had 7 tackles and a pass breakup. This is Gordon’s first POW award.

KEEGAN STOVER – RABUN COUNTY

Unbelievable. Keegan Stover was a cheat code in Week Three against #10-ranked Adairsville. The Wildcats standout senior QB is certainly turning more heads with each passing game. His latest trick? 481 passing yards and 8 TD – both school records – in a 72-point outburst (also Rabun County record). Stover’s 8 TD passes is tied for the second-most in a single game in state history, and his 481 yards is a top-15 performance all-time. And it came against a top-10 ranked program in a higher classification, so there’s that too. This is Stover’s second POW award.
