Diamond Preview 2022: White County

With Drew Owens closing in on 100 wins at White County (he sits at 89), the Lady Warriors take on a much larger task in 2022…replicating yet beating last season’s Sweet 16 run and being in the mix for a region title.

Head Coach: Drew Owens, 8th season
2021 Record:
23-7, Sweet 16, #3 State Ranking, Region Runner-Up

“We will always set the bar high in our program,” says Owens. “Therefore, finishing on the very top will always be the goal. At this point, we are making sure that we put the work in to make that goal as attainable as possible.”

Personnel

Key Departures: Liana O’Kelly, Reagan Dunagan, Annika Vandiver

“Those were great leaders, great athletes, and most importantly great people,” exclaims Owens.

Key Returning Players: Katelyn Boman, Cree Cantrell, Kaylie Holbrook, Gabby Whiddon, Kate Sartain, Von Minutello, Rachel Carter, Emma Hare, Hailey Ramey

Quite the returning cast Owens will have. Yes, the trio of seniors will be missed bigtime, but a solid core is back to make sure the Lady Warriors don’t miss a beat.

Strengths & Areas of Focus

Strengths: ” We are strong offensively and defensively,” states Owens.

Focusing On: “We will be young in the circle but talented,” says Owens. “Excited to watch how our pitchers compete under pressure this year. Staying aggressive on the bases will also be important for our team to be successful.”
