Volleyball Preview 2022: Stephens County


For a fourth straight season, the Stephens County volleyball program has a new head coach, as John LaFevers becomes the fifth in the last six years to guide the team. Still, the Lady Indians have won when it matters most, and to that end have made back-to-back state playoff runs, and looking to get back again in 2022.
Head Coach: John LaFevers, 1st Season
2021 Record: 6-18; Rnd 1
“The expectation is to improve each time we’re on the court and to return to the state playoffs for the third year in a row,” exclaims LaFevers.

Personnel
Key Departures: Tons
“The majority of the team graduated last year,” says LaFevers. “Only three players are returning. We will miss the strong leadership from MH Eczaria Carvin who was a very vocal leader.”
Key Returning Players: My’Angel Carter, Kiara Lopez, Allie Brock
Carter (MH) and Lopez (OH) are the undisputed senior leaders from last year’s playoff tema. Junior Brock (OH) is also a key contributor that comes back.
Strength & Area of Focus
Strength: “We have strong chemistry with the rising players who are joining the returners this year,” states LaFevers. “They’re excited to play together and we’re going to build on that enthusiasm.”
Focus: “Building a team who is intentional, a strong community, and puts full effort in all that they do,” adds LaFevers.
