BLITZ has selected Brayton Purcell (Commerce) Baseball Player of the Week following the Tigers’ Elite 8 win.

The Commerce Tigers’ storied run in the state playoffs continues. It took three games, but Commerce got past Emanuel County Institute. Despite dropping the first game, the Tigers clawed back to win the next two, and overcame a late deficit to win the do-or-die game. Truthfully, many of the Tigers could earn Player of the Week, but senior outfielder Brayton Purcell hit the go-ahead homer for Commerce. He hit .833 in the series, going 5-for-6. He had four RBI, six runs, and five walks to earn his first POW award.
