Union County began its new era under coach Michael Perry last season, and the team went 3-7 in what was a rebuilding year. Moving to year 2, some steps forward are expected, though some positions, notably QB, must be filled quickly to replace the likes of Logan Helcher. While the defense struggled to 38.6 points allowed per game, the offense improved from 18.5 points in 2020 to 24.9 in 2021. That’s no surprise for an offensive-minded coach like Perry, who will look to build off last year’s experience for what was a young team.
