Awarded annually to a school in the BLITZ coverage area since 2009-10, the BLITZ Cup currently resides at Commerce, last year’s champion who had a record 228 points. The traveling trophy is housed at the winning school at the end of each school year until a new champion is named.
Rabun County last won the BLITZ Cup in the 2016-17 year, and remains the only school to win 3 straight BLITZ Cup titles, taking it in ’14-’15, ’15-’16, and ’16-’17. The Rabun County basketball teams were largely responsible for making a big jump in the standings, and the same for Tallulah Falls, which moved up the most (up 4 spots). Dawson County took the biggest drop, down from #1 in the standings to #6. Jefferson and Commerce remain huge threats to overtake Rabun County and have solid spring sports programs that should make for an exciting finish.
