Deetz hits 1K in Lady Cats win in regular season finale over Banks [VIDEO]

The #1-ranked Lady Wildcats of Rabun County (18-5; 5-1 in 8-AA) cruised to a 59-38 win over visiting Banks County (8-16; 0-6) on Friday night. The evening belonged to Gracie Deetz, who tallied her 1,000th career point on a free throw in the third quarter.

Deetz dropped in a game-high 18 points, including 13 in the second half. Rabun held a slim 10-5 lead after the first. Deetz and Lucy Hood had key 3-pointers as part of an 8-3 run in the opening quarter. Banks County got a boost in the second when Kamryn Grier scored 4 straight to pull it to a one-point game. A backdoor layup by Carley Haban and a fast-break layup by Hood jumpstarted a 13-1 run for Rabun, who led 30-19 at the break.

Deetz’ free throw with 5:13 left in the third gave her 1,000 career points, joining the likes of recent Lady Cats like Laken Stiles, Georgia Stockton, Brooke Henricks, and Savanna Scott. In the fourth, Rabun put the game away and led by over 20 for much of the final quarter.

Behind Deetz’ 18 points, Haban had 14. Hood had 8, including a pair of 3-pointers (Deetz also had 2 triples), Sophie Woodard and Mary Lovell had 7 apiece, and Sarah Kate Roberson and Trea Blalock had 2 each. Mili Watts had one point for the Lady Cats. For Banks, Grier led with 14 points. Ryleigh Murphy had 9, including 2 trays. Addison Hoard finished with 6 points, and Kalyn Beasley and Carley Segars both had 4, while Reese Murphy had one.
