Gunner Stockton Commits to Georgia Bulldogs
Just days after de-committing from South Carolina, Rabun County’s 5-star QB, considered by many to be the prize pick of the Class of 2022, committed to UGA. He made the announcement via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
Stockton’s 45 TD passes this season marked his second time in three years eclipsing the elite mark of 40, and simultaneously sets a new high for him. His 26 rushing scores are a new personal best. He also set a personal best in rushing yards (1,581) and his QB Rating (133.5) was just shy of last season’s career high. All told, Stockton now has 9,518 passing yards (8th most in state history) and 122 passing scores (3rd), 3,416 rushing yards, and 62 TDs on the ground. Add it up and you get 12,934 total yards and 184 total TD. Ridiculous!
UGA was in the mix when he narrowed his list down to two in the Summer of 2020, and initially chose South Carolina. That all changed when Will Muschamp was fired, and Mike Bobo headed off to Auburn. Stockton re-opened his recruitment just days ago, and on Thursday made the announcement that he is going with UGA.
Stockton held 26 offers, including from programs such as Alabama, UGA, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Florida, South Carolina, and many other top-tier football programs.
