October Softball Power Rankings

Down to the final regular season games, we bring you the official October Softball Power Rankings.

#1 JEFFERSON

RECORD: 14-4 (10-3)
LAST RANKING: #1

Jefferson, believe it or not, is third in a crazy-good region. The Lady Dragons are primed and ready for another deep playoff run. The star veterans are playing well, and plenty of younger players have stepped up just in time for crunch time.

#2 UNION COUNTY

RECORD: 11-4 (4-0)
LAST RANKING: #2

The Lady Panthers have officially clinched the regular season region title out of 8-AA. Among the local teams that Union has beaten includes: Banks (twice), Lumpkin (twice), White, and Commerce. Lumpkin and Commerce have returned the favor once as well.

#3 COMMERCE

RECORD: 13-6-1 (8-0)
LAST RANKING: #4

Commerce has dominated its region to this point, and have won three straight. The biggest win came against Union, who the Lady Tigers had previously lost to.

#4 LUMPKIN COUNTY

RECORD: 16-7 (14-2)
LAST RANKING: #5

The Lady Indians are red-hot, winning nine in a row. This has Lumpkin looking the part of a Columbus team for sure. Right now, the girls are second in the region. Wins against others in the rankings include: three over White County, three over Dawson, and one over Union. Union has beat Lumpkin twice in return.

#5 HABERSHAM CENTRAL

RECORD: 15-11 (6-7)
LAST RANKING: #3

The Lady Raiders have dropped six of the last eight, but are still comfortably sitting at fourth place in the region. This team has the talent to make a playoff run that goes beyond the first round. But there’s still work to do to make sure that happens.

#6 WHITE COUNTY

RECORD: 10-9 (9-7)
LAST RANKING: #6

The Lady Warriors have been up and down the past six games, going 3-3. White County is third in region right now, so a playoff berth is well within grasp. The girls have two wins over Dawson and one over Rabun to their credit, but have dropped three to Lumpkin and one each to Union and Habersham.

#7 BANKS COUNTY

RECORD: 9-11 (2-4)
LAST RANKING: #7

Banks County has lost three of the past four games, but do have a pair of wins over Stephens and a pair over Rabun to keep them nestled here in the rankings. Jefferson (twice) and Union (twice) have been losses among the local teams. As it sits, Banks is third in the region, but all this team needs to do is get in the playoffs, and anything can happen.

#8 STEPHENS COUNTY

RECORD: 9-12 (5-3)
LAST RANKING: #8

Remember when the Lady Indians were 0-7 to start the season? That’s a distant memory, as Stephens has won six of its last eight and are now third in their region. Wins have come over Habersham and Rabun, and losses to Banks (twice) and Habersham. It’s been a great turnaround for this program in 2020.

#9 DAWSON COUNTY

RECORD: 5-10 (4-10)
LAST RANKING: #9

Dawson County has lost four of the past five games, and are in danger of not making the playoffs. Right now, the Lady Tigers are sixth in the region. Though they have beaten Rabun, they’ve also dropped three each to White County and Lumpkin County.

#10 RABUN COUNTY

RECORD: 6-10 (0-4)
LAST RANKING: #10

The Lady Cats broke a five-game losing streak to get back in the win column. Rabun is fourth in the region, but will still be in the playoffs due to being in a four-team region. Rabun has a win over Towns this year, but losses to White, Dawson, Stephens, and Banks (twice).

#11 TOWNS COUNTY

RECORD: 8-9 (3-6)
LAST RANKING: #11

Towns County is having, by its own history, a fantastic season. They’ve alternated three wins and three losses now, and are fourth in the region.
