Banks County senior Griffin Stephens earned Runner of the Week honors after logging 5,337 votes out of 9,976 in the Fan Vote. He beat out Commerce freshman and reigning Runner of the Week Paden Bell (2,714) and Dawson’s Collin Kilgore (1,515).

GRIFFIN STEPHENS

This marks the second time this month that Griffin Stephens takes Runner of the Week bragging rights. The senior put up a time of 16:58 in claiming the Region 8-AA title. It wasn’t much of a surprise, seeing as he took the top spot in the Region Preview meet just a week prior to the real deal. His top time of his career (and this season) is a 16:11.

After finishing as Region Runner-Up in each of the last two seasons, it was finally his time to shine. At state last year he was Runner-Up, and 3rd the year prior…so one has to think he should win it all this season.
