Banks’ Bowen & Cleveland eclipse 1,000 points on same night

Call it coincidence, but you couldn’t plan it any better than Banks County having two players reach a huge milestone on the same night this past weekend. Both Jaycie Bowen and Carl Cleveland hit 1,000 career points on Saturday night at Stephens County.

The Lady Leopards’ senior has anchored the 4-0 Banks County start, and on Saturday night in a 63-35 win at Stephens County, Bowen topped 1,000 points for her illustrious career.

The Georgia College signee joins recent Banks County standouts Allison Smith (c/o 2018) and Kaitlyn Duncan (c/o 2015) to hit that mark.

CARL CLEVELAND

Cleveland has been a playmaker since day one as a freshman, and took his game to new heights Saturday against Stephens County. In the 83-78 narrow win for Banks County (2-2), Cleveland posted a career-high 45 points, reaching 1,000 for his career just four games into his junior season.

Cleveland also had 18 boards and 5 assists in the win. He is the fifth recent Leopard to hit the milestone, following Kahmal Wiley (c/o 2017), Zez Steeple (c/o 2016), Zac Orr (c/o 2016), and Austin Venable (c/o 2015). Even last year’s Player of the Year, Dylan Orr (c/o 2018) came VERY close, with 930 in his career. The Leopards have a knack for making 1,000-point scorers seem like they grow on trees.
