After a solid last few games for one Banks County girls soccer player, she has been named BLITZ Player of the Week.
LUCY HUGHES
Junior ST #24
Hughes has been awesome to say the least over the past five games, scoring 9 goals and adding 5 assists. Her totals for the season are 12 goals and 7 assists for a Banks County team that still has a realistic shot at the state playoffs after a 2-1 start in region play.
The 3-7 overall mark may not impress much (especially after a tough 0-5 start — 0-6 if you count the season-opening scrimmage). But the Lady Leopards have won three of their last five, outscoring opponents 19-9 in that time.
There are three region games left on the Banks schedule, and the girls hold the third place spot currently, tied with Putnam among the top four, following Rabun and Elbert, who are both 3-0 in region competition.
