Boys/Girls Soccer Power Rankings: March

SBT Generic digital ad (2)

As we usher in the rainy March season, most of our locals have at least 5 games under their belts, which gives us a pretty good idea of where each team lies within our power rankings so far.

2018 Power Rankings - Boys Soccer March

#1 White Co Warriors

5-3 (0-1 Region 7-AAAA)

Jeremy Stille has yet another solid White County team. How far will this Warriors group go this season? With a great keeper (David Windmiller) and a pretty good offense (32 goals), we believe this could be a special year for White County.

#2 Dawson Co Tigers

3-2 (1-0 Region 7-AAA)

Without long-time coach Jed Lacey, who passed away tragically over the summer, the Tigers have struggled to find consistency. However, two straight wins should help right the ship.

#3 Habersham Central Raiders

2-3 (1-0 Region 8-AAAAAA)

The Ric Wallace-led Raiders are searching to get back to being that feared powerhouse team we saw much of the last decade. A 1-0 win over Lanier is HUGE!

#4 Lumpkin Co Indians

3-3 (0-0 Region 7-AAA)

19 of the Indians’ 22 goals have come in their three wins. Not a bad place to be at 3-3, but would like to see them on the good side of some of those closer games.

#5 Union Co Panthers

1-4 (0-2 Region 7-AAA)

The Panthers are searching for firm footing as we get deeper into March.

#6 Stephens Co Indians

1-6 (0-1 Region 8-AAAA)

Stephens County has only 8 goals in 7 games, so hopefully the offense can help generate more wins.

#7 Rabun Co Wildcats

1-2 (0-0 Region 8-AA)

#8 Towns Co Indians

0-2 (0-0 Region 8-A)

#9 Banks Co Leopards

0-7-1 (0-0-1 Region 8-AA)

2018 Power Rankings - Girls Soccer March

#1 Lumpkin Co Lady Indians

6-1 (0-0 Region 7-AAA)

Once again, Lumpkin County might be one of the teams to beat in all of 3A. They’ll score goals when needed, but the Lady Indians hang their hat on their defense (4 goals allowed). State ranked #4 in Class 3A.

#2 Dawson Co Lady Tigers

4-1 (1-0 Region 7-AAA)

Molly Muenchen is just a freshman, but has 8 goals and an assist in the last two games for Dawson. Aside from giving up five goals to powerhouse Flowery Branch, no one has scored on this team. Right behind Lumpkin in state polls at #5.

#3 White Co Lady Warriors

4-2-2 (0-1 Region 7-AAAA)

Former Lady Warrior standout herself, Megan Runkle, has inherited a great team, led by a rare talent in true scorer Bella Ramey. Have been ranked in top-10 in state polls early.

#4 Stephens Co Lady Indians

4-2-1 (0-1 Region 8-AAAA)

This is a really good team, led by all-time goals leader Erin Carter. This group gave up 18 goals to White County and St. Pius combined, but in all other games they are outscoring opponents 26-8. Were ranked #10 at one point early this season in state rankings.

#5 Union Co Lady Panthers

4-1 (1-1 Region 7-AAA)

Lady Panthers and Madison Yost (7 goals, 1 assist in one game vs East Hall; school record) should have another playoff bound Union County squad.

#6 Banks Co Lady Leopards

2-5 (1-0 Region 8-AA)

#7 Habersham Central Lady Raiders

1-3-2 (0-1 Region 8-AAAAAA)

#8 Towns Co Lady Indians

1-1 (0-0 Region 8-A)

#9 Rabun Co Wildcats

0-3 (0-0 Region 8-AA)
