Our Game of the Week takes us to Cleveland for the second time this year for a non-region game between White County and visiting East Jackson.

WHITE COUNTY

The Warriors began the season 2-0, and dropped last week’s rival showdown against Lumpkin County at the Burial Grounds. Now, White County will look to rebound for the first time this year officially. The last time they lost was even more demoralizing in a blowout scrimmage at Commerce, and the Warriors bounced back in a big way with a win over East Hall. The comeback, overtime win at home against Dawson was beautiful. Will this recent loss to Lumpkin spark another win streak for White County? This marks the third home game in the first four weeks.

EAST JACKSON

The Eagles aren’t exactly soaring right now, but you can say they’re flying high after a win over Banks County of 28-14. That might not look like much, but the Leopards are a resurging team, so that’s pretty solid. EJ previously lost to Elbert County and Commerce, both really solid teams, particularly Commerce.

OUR PREDICTION

We typically make a case for both, with our official pick linked below. Let’s begin with the Warriors. White County has averaged 34.5 points in the two wins before being shut out against Lumpkin. The defense, even when you take the Lumpkin loss of 27-0, has been pretty good. That might be the biggest key, is how the Warriors will handle dual threat Jalen Jennings. The offense can put pressure on quick – and that starts with Jack Clark and Brinn Robinson. And Gaines Clark and Zach Godfrey getting open, and don’t forget about Savion Anderson and John Jarrard. The offense is so talented at the skill spots, so spreading the ball around will be crucial. East Jackson’s offense generated a total of 20 points in the first two losses, but rebounded with 28 last week against Banks. The defense has been alright. There’s not a whole lot we can say as we don’t typically see and cover them, but if they get Jennings racking up yards on long drives that end in touchdowns, this will be the recipe for an East Jackson win.
