Each week throughout the school year, we recognize the teams who we feel stood out the most. Teams of the Week are presented by Cofield Outdoors!

FOOTBALL – LUMPKIN COUNTY INDIANS

The Indians are off to an incredible start at 3-0 with convincing wins over rivals Dawson (WK 1) and White (WK 3), with a win over Pickens in WK 2. The win over White County was solid all the way around, with the offense generating plenty of big plays, and the defense pitching a shutout.

SOFTBALL – HABERSHAM CENTRAL LADY RAIDERS

The Lady Raiders reeled off four straight wins by beating Oglethorpe County, Rabun County, Apalachee, and Mountain View to go up over .500 to 6-5. They’re starting to heat up at the right time…

Softball Teams of the Week this season:

• AUG 10-15: Franklin County Lady Lions
• AUG 17-22: Lumpkin County Lady Indians
• AUG 24-29: Banks County Lady Leopards
• AUG 31-SEP 5: Habersham Central Lady Raiders

VOLLEYBALL – TALLULAH FALLS LADY INDIANS

The Lady Indians are heating up, and now have nine straight victories. Within that are two reverse sweeps after going down 2-0 and coming back to win 3-2. Both of those were on the road against a top-10 opponent, and overall, there’s three top-10 wins in the last week for TFS. Tallulah is now 13-8 on the season, and the three wins last week came against #9 Lumpkin County (2-0), Stephens County (2-0), and #10 George Walton (3-2).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY – JEFFERSON LADY DRAGONS

The Lady Dragons came in Runner-Up at the North Hall Invite, second only to hosts North Hall. Jefferson had several standouts, including Georgie Howell (7th), Ariana Smith (9th), Ansley Boyd (12th), and Taylor Chastain (15th). Howell and Chastain are only freshmen, while Smith and Boyd are just sophomores.

• AUG 17-22: White County Lady Warriors
• AUG 24-29: Dawson County Lady Tigers
• AUG 31-SEP 5: Jefferson Lady Dragons

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY – UNION COUNTY PANTHERS

Union County’s boys claim the honors for the second time this season, but it’s well-deserved. The Panthers finished 2nd at the North Hall Invite among some very great competition, coming in just behind hosts and powerhouse program North Hall. Maddux Oakey was 3rd, Andrew Nushtayev 8th, Ander Faulkner 9th, and Oliver Hillman 11th for Union.
