An 8th-grader playing at the varsity level due to Towns County playing a non-region slate this year, Deagan Shook is getting an early chance to shine. The catcher hit .555 this past week, driving in three runs and scoring five. She also threw out an attempted base stealer.

Ace and slugger – Riley Dyer does it all. The junior for Lumpkin County was 2-0 with a 2.33 ERA last week, striking out 17 batters in 12 innings of work. She also hit .667 at the plate, blasting two homers and driving in eight runs, adding a pair of doubles. This is her 3rd career POW award. Dyer is the 900th all-time junior to win BLITZ POW across all sports.

Stud pitcher Peyton Gaylor is just continuing to leave her mark on the Banks County program. The Lady Leopards senior ace last week went 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA, striking out 23 batters in just 11 innings and allowing only a single hit. She recently surpassed 400 career strikeouts as well. This is her 5th career POW award.

Keeping with the theme of ace pitchers doing their thing, look at Izzy Anthros. The Union County senior star also went 2-0 in the circle last week to a spotless 0.00 ERA. She had 21 strikeouts. At the plate, she hit .857 (six hits), with three homeruns, five RBI, three doubles, and three walks with a .900 OBP. This is her 6th career POW award.

Rabun County’s star catcher River Evans had another monster week. The junior blasted two homeruns with seven RBI. She hit .417 on the week and had a grand slam, and walked a ridiculous six times. This is her 5th career POW award.
