Week One is in the books! Here are the scores and relevant information for each of the local contests.

BANKS COUNTY 18, ARMUCHEE 0
The Leopards won for the first time since 2024 with a convincing 18-0 win at Armuchee to start the season. Banks County’s last dub came on November 1, 2024 against Oglethorpe County.

LUMPKIN COUNTY 42, DAWSON COUNTY 31
The Indians won a 42-31 final against rivals Dawson County. Lumpkin never trailed, though Dawson tied the game early and often. Kolson Howell had a breakout game with five total TDs (three rushing, two passing), and his 24-yd TD pass on 4th down to Martin Hulsey sealed the win. Joseph Alvarez also had a TD run, and Mac Powell opened the game with a TD catch from Howell. The Tigers leaned on Gunnar Weaver (2 TDs), Blake Turner (2 TDs), and Brody Sorensen (1 TD pass) in the barn-burner.

FRANKLIN COUNTY 64, CHESTATEE 0
Franklin County beat Chestatee 64-0 in an absolute beatdown. The Lions’ output is only the sixth time in program history hitting the 60-point mark, which they did twice last season.

HART COUNTY 51, HABERSHAM CENTRAL 3
The Raiders couldn’t get much going on either side of the ball in Week One at Hart County. The Bulldogs put up 51 points against a single field goal for Habersham Central.

#2 CALHOUN 21, #5 JEFFERSON 19
In a rematch of the 2012 State Championship (Jefferson won) and the 2024 State Championship (Calhoun won), the Dragons fell in a tough 21-19 contest at Calhoun. Jefferson trailed 21-0 at the half, and made some major adjustments. Boone Horn had a 1-yd TD to cap an 84-yd drive in the third. He did it again about midway through the fourth to make it 21-12, and then connected with Austen Kitchings on a 42-yd scroe to make it 21-19 with 1:28 left in the contest.

GILMER 43, #10 STEPHENS COUNTY 28
The Indians fell in a shocking result to Gilmer, 43-28. The Bobcats scored twice late to skew the final score. Branson Stowe had a pair of early TD passes, going to Kaiden Harbin and Dallas Hague. Stowe and Hague also had TD runs on the night, as the Indians dropped their opener in Ellijay.

TOWNS COUNTY 61, HAYESVILLE (NC) 20
The Indians won a huge rivalry game, 61-20 over Hayesville (NC). It was 41-12 at the half, and Towns County put on a show for the home crowd, getting it done with a flurry of rushing TDs. To top it off, the 61 points is a school record, marking the only time the Indians have ever scored 60-plus.

FANNIN COUNTY 30, UNION COUNTY 2
Disaster struck Union County on the second play of the game, as in that same play, QB Kamden Kendrick had a lower leg injury and was out (and might be for a long time). Logan Clason, the lone returning OL starter, also was hurt. Neither returned, and Chetley Cox, who also got hurt but came back in, had to battle through. It was scoreless at the half, but Fannin County scored all its 30 points in the third quarter.

WHITE COUNTY 49, EAST HALL 14
The Warriors shredded through the Vikings all night, winning a 49-14 game at home to start the season. Brinn Robinson threw a 78-yd TD to Zach Godfrey to open the game just over a minute in, and East Hall would tie it up a couple minutes later. From there, it was all Warriors. Jack Clark had a 4-yd TD run, and Savion Anderson added a 3-yd score. Robinson then had an 18-yd TD pass to Gaines Clark and a 38-yd TD pass to John Jarrard to put White County up 35-7 at the half. Clark added a 17-yd TD run in the third, and Robinson threw a 15-yd TD to Jarrard before the fourth. Godfrey and Anderson both had intercerptions as well.
