It took lots of research, but we hunted down the top offenses of each program in the BLITZ coverage area. Here’s what we found.

BANKS COUNTY (est 1958)

BEST OFFENSE: 1985 (29.6), 2008 (27.8)

The 2008 Leopards technically had the top offense with a school-record 306 total points under coach Blair Armstrong in what marked a state playoff run. At 27.8 points per contest, Banks County had lots of standouts, notably RB Justin Beasley and QB Chris Porter. However, the 1985 team posted a program mark of 29.6 points per game (296 total pts) behind the legendary performance of Terry Allen, who went on to play at Clemson and then in the NFL.

COMMERCE (est 1912)

BEST OFFENSE: 1985 (38.5), 1999 (36.9)

Commerce has a storied history – perhaps better than any other school in the state. With so many amazing offensive seasons, this one was hard. But you can’t beat the 517 total points from the 1999 team, led by coach Steve Savage. That group, which dominated the region, lost in the semifinals with a 13-1 total record. Legend Monte’ Williams was the bell-cow back on that squad. No other Commerce team except the 1985 team scored 500+ points in a season. The ’85 group averaged 38.5 per game, a program mark that still stands. Under Ray Lamb, the Tigers went 12-1, falling in the semifinals with Scott Nunn as the starting QB and Chas Hardy as the star on defense as well.

DAWSON COUNTY (est 1967)

BEST OFFENSE: 2018 (38.8)

Whether you’re looking at total points (465), or average (38.8), the 2018 Dawson County O was the best in school history. That Tigers team went 10-2, advancing to the second round of state under coach Sid Maxwell. Sevaughn Clark, a next-level RB, played at QB that season and tallied about 25 scores. Ahmad Kamara (1,418 rush yds, 17 TD) was incredible, and Shawn Thomas, Dakohta Sonnichsen, and Ryan Glass were other featured players on offense. They scored 64 against East Hall, and had six 40-plus games and three 50+ outings.

FRANKLIN COUNTY (est 1924)

BEST OFFENSE: 2025 (30.6), 1992 (26.5)

The 2025 version of Franklin County posted a school-record 30.6 points per game, totaling 336 in a 7-4 season that netted a playoff game. Part of the reason for the success was the massive amount of players who contributed on that side of the ball, from Keyes Harbin, Elliott Harbin, and Knox Whitworth at QB, to Nava Ware, Carson Cheek, DJ Appleby, and others at RB, to Mason Davis and Cole Woods at WR. They scored 60 in a win over West Hall, and 70 against Johnson as part of that. In all, they scored 30-plus six times. The 1992 region-title winning team that went 9-4 overall and made the State Quarterfinals, had 344 total points (26.5). The seniors who led those efforts – Elvin Brown, Eric Barnes, Jay Baskins, Robert Duncan, Erick Parson, James McGee, Tarus Winters and Bob Whitworth.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL (est 1970)

BEST OFFENSE: 2011 (39.3)

For all the great things the 2007 Raiders did with Tavarres King and Bo Hatchett — and believe us, that team was special at 412 points (31.6/game). That’s probably the best overall Raiders team. All that to say, the offense in 2011 was at another level (432 total points and 39.3 per game – both program marks). That’s all Kevin Ellison. He was named the AJC Class 4A Player of the Year (and BLITZ POY) with 2,138 rushing yards and 32 TD. That rushing yardage was 6th-best in the country, and he had over 200 yards per game. Wild enough, that Raiders team only went 6-5, as the defense allowed 401 total points overall, as nearly every game was a wild shootout.

JEFFERSON (est 1947)

BEST OFFENSE: 2013 (42.4), 2020 (41.7), 2012 (38.7)

The Dragons have had 12 teams in their history score over 430 points, which is absolutely insane. Five times, Jefferson has netted over 500. The top of the heap includes three programs, all tied for the lead here. First off, the 2013 Dragons, fresh off a State Championship in 2012, followed up with a masterclass on offense with a program-high 42.2 per game. Evan Shirreffs had a lot to do with that, as the D1 talent had 42 career TD. The season prior, the Dragons leaned on Evan’s older brother Bryant Shirreffs, also a D1 talent who finished his career with 90 TD overall. Dalton Hill and Sammy Williams were among those elite playmakers. The title-winning 2012 team averaged 38.7 points and scored a program record 580 total points. Legend T McFerrin led the 2012 team, and Ben Hall the 2013 version. Now, the 2020 Jefferson Dragons, guided by Gene Cathcart, put up 542 points across 13 games (41.7 per game). That season saw Jefferson play for a state title, falling to powerhouse Marist with a lineup that included Malaki Starks, Jordan Perry, Kolton Jones, Carter Stephenson, and Spencer Neese.

LUMPKIN COUNTY (est 1961)

BEST OFFENSE: 2023 (42.0)

Easily the undisputed best team in Lumpkin history. The Indians went 12-1 to the Quarterfinals under coach Heath Webb after also winning their first-ever region title. The offense was remarkable, scoring 546 points (42.0) behind the elite play of QB Cal Faulkner and RB Mason Sullens, with Nolan Matthews (eventually an elite RB) starring at WR. This team scored 40-plus eight times, including a season-best 61 at home in a 4OT win over White County. They dropped 50-plus three times overall.

RABUN COUNTY (est 1949)

BEST OFFENSE: 2017 (45.6), 2021 (48.6)

The top two seasons in program history for Rabun County came in 2017 and 2021 (you could make a case for 2020 with a semifinals run, too). But that 2017 squad was something special, with QB Bailey Fisher guiding the team to a 14-1 record, falling at home in a state championship against Hapeville Charter. He had RB Brison Beck and unbelievable receivers in Braxton Hicks, Austin Jones, and Cole Keener. What an offense the legend Lee Shaw had to work with – 684 points (45.6 per game) which was one of the best in the state. In 2021, under Jaybo Shaw, Gunner Stockton, the top QB in the country, led the Wildcats to an 11-2 season that went to the Quarterfinals. That season, Stockton with his top WR Jaden Gibson and stud RB Lang Windham, posted a school-record 48.6 points per game, scoring 632 overall. The Wildcats had three seasons with 600-plus points (also scoring 621 in 2020), and had six 500-plus outputs.

STEPHENS COUNTY (est 1923)

BEST OFFENSE: 2007 (37.2), 2005 (34.2)

Stephens County has had just two seasons over 400 points, both coming under coach Travis Noland. In 2005, the program posted 445 total points, just one off the record set two years later at 446 in 2007. The 2007 Indians had one of the program’s all-time best players in Tauren Poole, who went on as a 4-star RB to Tennessee. He had 1,941 yards and 29 TD rushing. Ethan Martin was the star QB, and Jaquan Trammell the star WR with Kadaryl Burtch and Cody Martin all combining for nearly 1,000 yards and 10 TDs. The 2007 Indians won the region title and were shockingly ousted in the second round of the playoffs.

TOWNS COUNTY (est 1969)

BEST OFFENSE: 2008 (33.6)

Towns County’s best overall season came in 2025, and that team did post 26.6 points per game with Dustin Barrett, Alex Baert, and Tucker Engert leading the way. However, the 2008 version went 7-3 as well with a program-record of 33.6 points and 336 total points under coach Kyle Langford. Matt Hogsed and Taylor Denton were among the standouts.

UNION COUNTY (est 1957)

BEST OFFENSE: 2014 (41.2)

Union County’s arguably-best season came five years later in 2019 (10-2, 2nd Round, 36.3 pts), but the 2014 Panthers hold the record for the program with 453 points and 41.2 per game. That group scored at least 30 points in all but one game, dropping 40-plus six times and more than 50 twice. Joseph Mancuso was unbelievable at QB, and other standouts from that team included Chase Barnett and Bo Lynch in the backfield, and Jacob Rogers, Robert Prunier, Sam Gilbert, and Brett Dietz at receiver. In all, they went 9-2 with a playoff appearance.

WHITE COUNTY (est 1958)

BEST OFFENSE: 2020 (39.7)

The 2010 Warriors have the best overall season with a 9-win year that came with a 2nd Round appearance led by RB legend Ashely Lowery. However, the 2020 Tim Cokely White County team went 7-3, making the playoffs with a record-setting offense of 39.7 points per game (397 total). That team had J Ben Haynes as the dual threat QB, complete with Silas Mulligan and Zion McMullen at RB, with Darius Cannon and Cooper Turner at WR. White County posted five games with 40 or more points, and dropped 30-plus in all but one game. They were robbed a regular season game due to the COVID-tampered year.
