Jefferson is just two seasons removed from a State Championship. The DNA is still very much in place, especially with coach Brittani Lawrence over the program. The Lady Dragons always have a stacked roster and incredible depth, and this season has just as much promise as any other even if there are no returning starters and a smaller-than-usual roster.

Head Coach: Brittani Lawrence (11th Season)
2025 Record: 29-11; Region Champions; State Elite 8

“We are a team that fully believes in WE ARE ONE, our motto for the 2026 season,” says Lawrence. “‘WE ARE ONE’ is understanding that success is not about individual accomplishment, but more about coming together as ONE to shine bright and disco! So the expectation is one heartbeat, one vision, one relentless pursuit of excellence, and this team has exactly what it takes to connect, compete, and play with HEART! We expect this team to consistently choose team over self, embrace adversity, and continue to grow together…the results will take care of themselves. It should also be noted that we intentionally scheduled tough competition because we want to be tested, especially to prepare/play in a challenging Region 8-5A and postseason. We have only had a handful of practices this season and some scrimmages, and we can already see/feel iron sharpening iron! We are looking forward to an excellent season!”

PERSONNEL & SCHEMES

# of Returning Starters: 0

Key Departures: Hannah Howard, Addison Headley, Reagan Wormley, Kate Shepstone, Kaitlyn Roper, Annabelle Pritchard, Reaggan Fidanza, Paola Swancey, Brianna Hill
“We graduated nine athletes (and a manager) in 2025 – that has been the biggest graduating class we have ever experienced. These were the last members of the 2024 State Championship team.”

Key Players: Mara Sweeney, Jilliann Gauthier, Arabella Dumas
“Across the board, we have a versatile offensive crew as they can swing from anywhere on the court. We have high, powerful expectations for Mara Sweeney (SR), Jilliann Gauthier, and Arabella Dumas. We also have three freshmen (a setter and two middles) on the team that we believe can handle the intensity of varsity! We also have high expectations from Brooklyn Bunch (JR). She had a fantastic sophomore season on varsity last year as a defensive specialist and we are eager for her to take on more defensive responsibilities and leadership skills this season.”

Strengths: “Competitive depth is one of our biggest strengths. We have multiple athletes capable of making an impact, cultivating healthy competition at nearly every position – aka iron sharpens iron!”
