Beckman, Hotard claim Athlete of the Week awards

The BLITZ Fan Vote for Track & Field Athlete of the Week was Claire Beckman (White County) after taking 7,455 of the 16,027 total votes. BLITZ then named Audrey Hotard (Habersham Central) as Co-POW.

CLAIRE BECKMAN – WHITE COUNTY

White County straight up dominated 7-AAA last week. While the team won the title, athletes like Claire Beckman all did their part individually. The senior was the Region Champion in both the High Jump and Triple Jump. In the former, she recorded a 5-0, and a distance of 33-03.5 in the latter. This is Beckman’s second POW award.

AUDREY HOTARD – HABERSHAM CENTRAL

Audrey Hotard is at it again. The sophomore (can you really believe she’s still just a 10th grader?!?) won a pair of Region Championships with top finishes in the 1600 and 3200. In the 1600, Hotard timed out at 5:25.13, just a little more than a second ahead of second place. In the 3200, she recorded a 12:04.95, 5 seconds ahead of the next runner. She also came in 3rd in the 800 with a 2:22.56. This is Hotard’s 6th Player of the Week award. Hotard has 5 region titles in track and field already, and 2 region titles in cross country as well.
