Griffin, Mitchell claim Athlete of the Week awards

The BLITZ Fan Vote for Track & Field Athlete of the Week was Braden Griffin (Stephens County) after taking 5,859 of the 14,307 total votes. BLITZ then named Molly Mitchell (Tallulah Falls) as Co-POW.

BRADEN GRIFFIN – STEPHENS COUNTY

Stephens County’s Braden Griffin has had an unbelievable season for the Indians. The senior last week placed first in the 100 (11.25), 200 (22.75), and 400 (50.53) at the Stephens County meet. The sprinter has finished 1st this season in 8 meets in the 400, putting up a PR of 50.20, 6 times in the 200 with a PR of 22.34, and 4 times in the 100 with a PR of 11.18. He just claimed the region title in the 400 and 200, both in those aforementioned PR times. This is Griffin’s first POW award.

MOLLY MITCHELL – TALLULAH FALLS

Molly Mitchell continues to have an impressive season. In a final tune-up before the Region Championships, the junior showed out at the Stephens County meet. She came in 1st in the 800 with a 2:38.64, 2nd in the 400 at 1:06.98, and was vital to 1st-place finishes in the 4×400 and 4×800. This is Mitchell’s first POW award.
