The BLITZ Fan Vote for Baseball Player of the Week was Caleb Berrong (Towns County) after taking 25,751 of the 73,788 total votes. BLITZ then named Berrong’s teammate Zane Floyd as Co-POW.

CALEB BERRONG – TOWNS COUNTY

Towns County had yet another player stand out last week – and that was senior Caleb Berrong. The DH batted .600, going 9-for-15 at the plate. He racked up 10 RBI, had 2 doubles, 5 runs scored, and was walked once as well across 4 games. This is Berrong’s first POW award.

ZANE FLOYD – TOWNS COUNTY

What a week it was for Zane Floyd! The Towns County star pitcher/shortstop hurled a complete game, 3-hit shutout while striking out 7 and picking up the victory. He also walked just one batter and threw only 82 pitches. That’s 11.7 pitches per inning, which is about unheard of at the high school level. He also found time during a 4-game stretch for the Indians to go 8-for-16 at the plate (.500 average), notching 6 RBI, 5 runs, 2 doubles, 4 stolen bases, and 2 walks. This is Floyd’s second POW award this school year (one in basketball), and his 3rd of his career.
