Grier hauls in 1,000th board as Lady Leopards clamp down on Union [VIDEO]

The win streak now hits 14 for the #2-ranked Lady Leopards, who earned a 46-21 win on Tuesday at home against Union County. Kamryn Grier, already eclipsing 1,000 career points earlier in the season, grabbed her 1,000th rebound to join elite company.

Banks County (21-3; 7-0 in 8-AA) remains atop the region, and held Union County (12-11; 3-4) to zero first quarter points. The Lady Panthers couldn’t get much going, and the Lady Leopards used a balanced scoring attack to earn the win.

The Lady Leopards had trouble initially as well finding points. The game’s first bucket came nearly midway through the first, as Grier laid one in off the glass. It was part of a 12-0 run that spanned into the second quarter before Ariel McCarter got Union on the board. By then, it was too late. Banks County outscored Union 15-4 in the second to take a commanding 25-4 lead into halftime.

It was a bit more even the second half, with the Lady Leopards scoring 21 the rest of the way against the Lady Panthers’ 17. Addison Hoard led all scorers with 12 points, and Grier added 10 for Banks County. Carley Segars had 8, Reese Murphy had 6, Ryleigh Murphy 4, and 2 apiece for Madison Adams, Gracie Marlow, and Maggie Irvin.

Union County was paced by McCarter’s 11 points (and 3 triples). Lara Turner had 4, Corinne Hill and Ivie Chapman had 2 each, and both Katelyn Brown and Mady Adams had 1 point.
