Pitch Preview: White County Lady Warriors

NINE. 9 years in a row, the Lady Warriors have made the playoffs (and were heading that way in 2020 but COVID knocked those plans out). Last year was another season in which Megan Runkle’s team was ranked inside the top-10 (fifth year in a row), and a 12-win season marked the fourth time in her stay at White County hitting that mark. With the talent back this season, it should be the same old song and dance.
HEAD COACH: Megan Runkle (6th Season)
2022 RECORD: 12-5-1; 3A State Round 1; #3 State Ranking
RETURNING STARTERS: 8
KEY DEPARTURES: Lily Gearing, Rachel Harris
KEY PLAYERS: Hazen Ramey, Nealeigh Broadwell, Reese Vandegriff, Anna Tatum, Callie Armour, Liz Williams
STRENGTHS: “Speed and Experience,” says Runkle.

This team is loaded! Back is Hazen Ramey, who put up 44 goals last season to set the school single-season record, and her 82 career scores is the all-time mark. She’ll put it well out of reach this season. Nealeigh Broadwell had 10 goals and 7 assists last year, and Anna Tatum recorded a school-record 15 assists. There’s a lot to like about this group and the talent, familiarity, experience, and desire to win.
That goal, according to Runkle, is straight forward. “Compete for Region and State Championships!”
