Diamond Preview: Rabun County Wildcats

Wesley Satterfield has gotten the Cats to the playoffs in back-to-back years, and with Rabun County moving into an all-new region and classification, the expectation is there for this group to possibly take the next step.
HEAD COACH: Wesley Satterfield (4th Season)
2022 RECORD: 6-17; 2A State Round 1
RETURNING STARTERS: 5
KEY DEPARTURES: Baxley O’Brien, Grayson Carver
KEY PLAYERS: Cory Keller, Jarret Giles, Cooper Welch, Parker Smith, Aiden Stewart, Nathan Thompson
STRENGTHS: “We return our entire outfield along with a few guys who hit at the top and middle of our order,” says Satterfield.

Returning 5 key players including that entire outfield is huge. It’s a bonus that the team has few holes and the top and middle of the lineup. Cory Keller is poised for a big senior season, and Cooper Welch should be a key factor in the team’s success. Look for guys like Jarret Giles to shine, and breakout years for Parker Smith, Aiden Stewart, and Nathan Thompson.
“Our team goals are always to compete for a spot in the playoffs and push to host the first round,” adds Satterfield. “Pitching is again a question mark for us. We are going to need a couple young guys to log some innings.”
