Pitch Preview: Habersham Central Raiders

The 2023 Raiders will look to take a step closer toward 2021 – when Hab Central advanced to the Sweet 16 and won 12 games. Last year was a rebuilding year of sorts, and several young players got valuable experience to head into the 2023 season.

*limited preview due to lack of team-provided information*

HEAD COACH: Ric Wallace (16th Season)
2022 RECORD: 3-11-1; No Playoffs
RETURNING STARTERS: Unknown
KEY DEPARTURES: Unknown
KEY PLAYERS: Unknown
STRENGTHS: Storied program with a legendary coach. That’s an obvious strength, as the Raiders remain one of the most successful boys programs in Northeast Georgia over the past 15 years.

The Raiders missed out on the postseason with just 3 wins, the fewest in Wallace’s tenure in any season. With an all-new region, it’s not necessarily easier for Habersham, but it certainly looks a bit less crazy. The Raiders will hopefully compete for a spot in the playoffs, and take advantage of a tough schedule that will pay dividends in the long run.
