Hoops Preview: Tallulah Falls Indians

Tallulah Falls had yet another fantastic season last year, winning 20 games, finishing as runner-up in the region, and making the Sweet 16, all while taking down a #1-ranked opponent and being ranked #2 themselves. With the two biggest playmakers back for their senior season, and a large group of seniors with major minutes, it could be yet another special season for TFS.
HEAD COACH: Cody Coleman (4th Season)
2021-22 RECORD: 20-6, Region 8-A Private Runner-Up, 1A Sweet 16, #2 State Ranking
RETURNING STARTERS: 1. Anfernee Hanna
KEY DEPARTURES: Charlie Cody, Gavin Page, Milos Vico
KEY PLAYERS: Anfernee Hanna (All-State), Lincoln Hall, Diego Crotta, Vlad Popescu
OFFENSE: “We want to play fast in transition and push the pace to set the tempo of the game,” states Coleman.
STRENGTHS: “I believe our biggest strength is our senior leadership,” says Coleman. “We have 8 seniors on the team this year and several of them contributed major minutes last season.”
BIGGEST CHALLENGES: “I believe our biggest challenge is finding a balance between playing at a fast pace but also playing under control,” adds Coleman.

Point blank, the Indians have the senior leadership and the high expectations that come with it. This team won a region title just two seasons ago, and were seconds away from doing that again last year. In a new-look Region 8-A DI, it’s going to be difficult with the likes of Rabun County, Commerce, Elbert, etc in the mix. But there are few teams with a duo like Hanna and Allen. Despite the hype, Coleman keeps the expectation simple.
“Continue to build and grow as a program,” says Coleman. And we’ll add this – if the Indians do that, the rest takes care of itself.
