Hoops Preview: Habersham Central Lady Raiders

After a third consecutive state playoff spot, and in a season where the Lady Raiders were ranked #10 at one point, coach Bill Bradley looks to ramp things up this season. With a solid core of talent back, Habersham Central should be a contender once again in a tough region 8-AAAAAA.

HEAD COACH: Bill Bradley (6th Season)
2021-22 RECORD: 17-10, Region 8-AAAAAA 3rd Place, State Rnd 1, #10 State Ranking
RETURNING STARTERS: 3. JR Kyia Barrett, SR Sataria Cantrell, SR Jazky Bantaum
KEY DEPARTURES: 5 Graduates, including leading rebounder Taylor Wade
KEY PLAYERS: Kyia Barrett, Sataria Cantrell, Jazky Bantaum, FR Emyrie Combs
OFFENSE: “Disciplined with execution,” adds Bradley.
STRENGTHS: “We bring back a good bit of experience – any time you return a point guard it is a good thing,” says Bradley.
BIGGEST CHALLENGES: Depth

Point blank, the Lady Raiders have a junior star in Kyia Barrett. She proved that last season. With her running the point and solid senior leaders and the emergence of Emyrie Combs is going to pay off for Habersham. The expectation has been to get to the postseason, and there’s no reason to think this group can’t do that.

“With new teams in our region, it will be hard to tell but we want to continue competing for the top spot in our region,” states Bradley.
