Softball Super Regionals Results

With the Super Regionals opening on Tuesday, several teams got underway in their opening action of the softball state tournament. Here’s where everything stands. Lumpkin’s full results are not known at this time, but all others are in the books. Union County stands as the only team to advance to Columbus.
#1 Union County – Union County Super Regional
The Lady Panthers squeezed out a slim 6-5 win over #4 Murray County, then won 12-2 over #2 Callaway to move on in the bracket. Facing Murray County again, Union took a 10-8 slugfest win to advance to the Elite 8 in Columbus!
#2 Banks County – ELCA Super Regional
The Lady Leopards beat #3 North Murray 10-2, then fell in the second game to #1 ELCA 2-1 to move to the elimination portion of the bracket. Against North Murray again, Banks won 10-3 to keep alive. ELCA then won the Super Regional with a 7-0 win over Banks County, who went 2-2 in the Supers. Their season is now complete.
#2 Commerce – Prince Avenue Christian Super Regional
Commerce opened with a 4-2 win over #3 Trion. #1 Prince Ave then won 12-4 to push the Lady Tigers to the elimination side of the bracket. Commerce then fell 8-2 against Trion to end their season.

#3 Habersham Central – Creekview Super Regional
The Lady Raiders fell 8-0 against #2 Lassiter, then lost a tough one 12-9 to #4 Alexander to end Habersham’s season.
#3 White County – Sandy Creek Super Regional
In a back-and-forth game, White County secured a 16-8 win over #2 Oconee County to stay on the top side of the bracket. BIG hits came by all in that game, including a late grand slam by Gabby Whiddon, and timely hits by Cree Cantrell among others. White County then beat #4 Ringgold 7-6 to advance to the Super Regional final on Saturday. #2 Oconee won 9-6 despite White County’s early lead, pinning a rematch for the winner-take-all. Oconee got hot at the right time, winning again (and winning 4 times on Saturday) to win the regional. That ends White County’s season.
#3 Rabun County – Mt. Vernon Super Regional
The Lady Wildcats fell 15-0 against #2 Dade County, and facing elimination, won 16-6 over #4 Jasper County. Facing Dade again as a do-or-die, Rabun dropped an 8-5 ball game to end their season.

#4 Lumpkin County – Monroe Area Super Regional
The Lady Indians fell 9-0 to #1 Monroe Area to move to the elimination bracket. Once there, Lumpkin scored 19 runs in a win over #2 Carver to stay alive. A 14-6 loss next to Monroe Area eliminated Lumpkin, ending its season.
