The BLITZ Fan Vote for Football Player of the Week saw 5,817 votes come in, with Max Aldridge (Jefferson) taking the most at 3,050. BLITZ then named Jaden Gibson (Rabun County) as Co-POW.

MAX ALDRIDGE – JEFFERSON

Talk about an emotional performance. Friend, next door neighbor, classmate, teammate, brother. That’s what Elijah Dewitt was to QB Max Aldridge. The senior played probably the toughest game of his life. To even play a game while dealing with losing someone so close is unthinkable. But he guided the Dragons to a legendary performance. 3 TD passes and 98 yards on 7-of-14 passing (50%) provided all #6 Jefferson needed in a 27-0 win at Flowery Branch. Aldridge added 27 rushing yards on 7 carries (3.9 YPC). Epic performance that no one can forget, all while donning his brother’s #2 jersey!

JADEN GIBSON – RABUN COUNTY

The night that Jaden Gibson had was one that even he might not be able to duplicate. The state’s all-time best receiver now leaves it undebatable. The Georgia Southern commit went into a big-time showdown between #2 Rabun County and #6 Elbert County in a battle of unbeatens at The Granite Bowl in Elberton. The result? A 41-21 Wildcats win to make a huge statement. What’s more, the star senior WR needed 225 yards and 3 TD to tie the all-time state records in both receiving yards and receving TD. He went for 285 and 4 to claim the top spot all-time in both. He hauled in 13 catches, several highlight-worthy, and averaged 21.9 yards per catch. Gibson now has 1,363 yards on the season and tied his career-high of 19 TD. He has 4,537 career yards and 49 and at minimum 3 more games, and almost 100% he’s got something closer to 5-7 games left to put those totals so far out of reach. This is Gibson’s 7th POW award all-time, making him the fourth-most decorated football player in BLITZ history behind other Rabun greats Gunner Stockton, Bailey Fisher, and Austin Jones.
