Standout trio named Habersham EMC Linemen of the Week

The Habersham EMC Linemen of the Week after Week One are Jayden Gragg (Stephens) for the O-Line, and both Chance Schmeltz (Towns) and Aidan Butts (Stephens) for the D-Line.
JAYDEN GRAGG – STEPHENS COUNTY OL

Jayden Gragg takes the honors as the Habersham EMC OL of the Week. The senior was a bulldozer on the line, collecting six pancakes and grading out at 90% for the Indians in their opening win over Habersham Central. This is Gragg’s first POW award.
Other Standouts: Cesar Cruz (Rabun SR C #66 – 85% Grade); Lane McColman (Lumpkin JR OL #75 – highest grade on team)

CHANCE SCHMELTZ – TOWNS COUNTY DL

Chance Schmeltz led the attack for Towns County against Hayesville. On the road, the senior defensive end posted ridiculous numbers, gathering up 12 tackles (2 for loss), 1.5 sacks, and 5 QB pressures. This earned Schmeltz his first individual POW award, though he has earned it as part of an OL unit last season.

AIDAN BUTTS – STEPHENS COUNTY DL

Aidan Butts gets the nod for DLOW as well, since the Stephens County junior defensive end racked up four sacks. Read that again. That’s unreal. Four sacks, which accounted for all four of his tackles, and forced a fumble in the Indians win over Habersham Central in Week One. This is Butts’ first POW award.
