Trio of playmakers named first football POWs of 2022

The first BLITZ Player of the Week awards for football go to a trio of playmakers who shined in scrimmages last week. Rabun County senior QB Keegan Stover, Lumpkin County senior QB Cooper Scott, and sophomore teammate do-it-all Cal Faulkner earn the distinction.
KEEGAN STOVER – RABUN COUNTY

Well, that didn’t take long. It’s just a scrimmage, but Keegan Stover in just two quarters of play went up against a top-10 ranked defense (Bowdon) and passed with flying colors. He threw for 257 yards on 12-of-16 passing (75%), connecting for 3 TDs in the process. This is the senior’s first POW award, and came in a 34-21 win over Bowdon.

COOPER SCOTT – LUMPKIN COUNTY

Cooper Scott opens his senior year with his fourth career POW award after a bigtime win over Banks County in a tuneup scrimmage. In just two quarters, the signal-caller passed for 206 yards and 2 TD, and added 84 rushing yards and another three TD – giving him FIVE TDs for the game in just a half. He completed 14-of-17 passes for 82%.

CAL FAULKNER – LUMPKIN COUNTY

Cal Faulkner is one of those players that can be a factor in every facet of the game. The sophomore showed in a scrimmage win over Banks County what we mean. He tallied THREE interceptions, which is ridiculous. He returned one of those for a TD. He also had a receiving TD and 81 yards in that department. Oh – and he passed for 27 yards on 2-for-4 (50%) attempts. This is Faulkner’s second POW award – first in football.
