Volleyball Preview 2022: Habersham Central

The Lady Raiders enter year 12 under coach Lindsay Herrin, who has posted now five 20-win seasons, and made the postseason in five different seasons. This year’s team returns a great deal of experience and talent, and should once again be able to clinch a playoff spot in a region that no longer has powerhouse Buford in the mix.

“The expectation is to finish in the top two of our newly-assigned region for an automatic bid to state,” states Herrin.

Personnel

Key Departures:  Libero Ansley McAllister, MH Molly Butler

The Lady Raiders do lose talented players McAllister and Butler, though the program typically has a ‘next-up’ mentality.

Key Returning Players: 8 seniors including MH Allie Church, S Abbey Donaldson, OH Landrey Pike 

Donaldson may be the best setter around this year, and Church is a solid middle hitter. There’s a great nucleus for this team to build around.

Strength & Area of Focus

Strength: Experience with 8 seniors, cohesiveness, solid fundamentals

Focus: Playing as a team in new roles, improving serve receive
