Volleyball Preview 2022: Banks County

Banks County enters just its third year with a volleyball program. Don’t let that fool you though. In year one (2020), the Lady Leopards won 12 matches, made the playoffs, and were ranked #9 in the state. Last season, Whittney LaHayne stepped in and got the program to 18 wins and a runner-up finish in the region/area. Now, with so much in favor of Banks coming into the 2022 season, it might be time for the girls to build on that and take it to another level.

Head Coach: Whittney LaHayne, 2nd Season
2021 Record:
18-16; State Rnd 1; Region Runner-Up

“With my returning players, I expect us to make a solid run in our area and hope to continue on to the state tournament,” says LaHayne. “This year I expect to advance further into the state tournament.”

Personnel

Key Departures: None

What a blessing for this still-young but successful program to bring everyone back!

Key Returning Players: Jadelyn McClure, Addison Hoard, Lola Pruitt, Bacey Ausburn, Shayna Vickery, Emmie Chitwood

McClure will be the senior leader to head up the charge in 2022. Banks County has a solid nucleus to work around.

Strength & Area of Focus

Strength: “This season we are going into the season strong in our fundamentals and well-rounded in all positions on the floor,” adds LaHayne.

Focus: “This season I want the girls to focus on the overall mental aspect of the game,” says LaHayne. “We have the fundamentals, we just need to build on our mental toughness by working on our tenacity, focus, developing solid communication, and maintaining composure in moments of difficulty.”
