Coaching Carousel – Coming and Going

With a new school year approaching (even though 2021-22 just ended), we compiled a list of the coaches coming and going (that we know of). If we missed anyone, please let us know (EMAIL US MISSING COACHES).

BANKS

Softball – No Known Coach at this time.

COMMERCE

Boys Basketball – Sherrard Brantley has been named the new head coach after the departure of Russ Gregg, who has taken a head coaching position in South Carolina.

Volleyball – Macie Fouche takes over the program after Robin Richards has stepped down.

Wrestling – Former Commerce legend and BLITZ Hall of Famer Chance McClure takes over the program from long-time BLITZ Legendary Coach Kendall Love, who has retired.

DAWSON

Baseball – Logan Burt (Dawson alum) takes over program after the retirement of long-time coach and BLITZ Legendary Coach Dwayne Sapp.

Girls Basketball – Will Anglin (Dawson alum; previously assistant boys coach and current head golf coach) takes over program after BLITZ Legendary Coach Erick Herrick takes the job at North Hall as head boys coach.

HABERSHAM

Boys Basketball – Tommy Yancey takes over the program, coming from East Hall, as Aric Mawdesley resigned.

Softball – Karly Thompson has been named head coach of the Lady Raiders, after coach Bill Bradley stepped down (but staying as girls basketball coach).

JEFFERSON

Baseball – Kyle Hardy takes over the program after long-time BLITZ Legendary Coach Tommy Knight retired.

Football – Travis Noland takes over the program, coming from Oconee County. BLITZ Legendary Coach Gene Cathcart took the head coaching job at Batesburg-Leesville (SC).

Boys Soccer – Ezra Crumley, formerly at Lanier as the head coach, takes over the program after the departure of Casey Colquitt.

LUMPKIN

Baseball – Ryan Zaideman takes over the program after the departure of Jonathan Gastley.

Football – Heath Webb takes over the program after the departure of Caleb Sorrells. Webb comes from a multi-year stint over Gainesville’s program.

Boys Soccer – Brent Howell, who comes from Franklin County, takes over the program after Mark Wade steps away.

RABUN

AD – Jason Gibson (formerly Assistant AD) takes over as Athletic Director with Jaybo Shaw (football & AD) heading to Wayne County.

Football – Michael Davis takes over the program (was previously the OC), as Jaybo Shaw took the Wayne County job.

Softball – Wes Satterfield (who has been the baseball coach) takes over the program as Alma Arnold departs.

Track & Field – Tim Corbett takes over the program, coming from Tallulah Falls, after long-time coach Tim Bragg retires.

STEPHENS

Cross Country – Erin Fleming will be taking over the program, as Chris Colwell is retiring.

Volleyball – John LaFevers will be taking over the program, formerly headed up by Allie Pearson.

TALLULAH FALLS

Golf – Head coach Hannah Satterfield has taken a position elsewhere, with no known replacement at TFS.

Tennis – Anthony Cox takes over the program, as Randy Morris will move into an advisory and player development role.

TOWNS

No Known Coaching Changes

UNION

Girls Basketball – Brad Cochran, formerly an assistant for Piedmont University WBB, takes over the program from Mandy Hunter, who stepped down.

Softball – Carissa Owenby takes over the program after the departure of Stephen Mitchell.

Volleyball – Megan Brown takes over the program after Anna Chapman resigned. Brown formerly coached at Marietta HS before taking one year in Japan and then time off before returning to coaching and teaching.

WHITE

Football – Chad Bennett takes over the program, as he was previously OC at Gainesville. He takes over after the retirement of Tim Cokely.

Golf – Long-time coach Darrell Dorsey retired, and Kensley Brown (boys) and Esta Johnson (girls) take over the golf program.

Volleyball – Yarixa Oakes takes over the program after being an assistant, as Shannon Smith moves on.
