Junior standouts named Baseball POW


The BLITZ Baseball Player of the Week fan vote collected 20,112 total votes. The top vote-getter was White County’s Mark Daniels with 7,423. BLITZ then chose Commerce’s Coleson Smith as co-POW.
MARK DANIELS – FAN VOTE

White County’s Mark Daniels had a fantastic week for the Warriors. The junior infielder (3B) and pitcher got it done at the dish and on the bump. At the plate, he batted .416 (5-for-12), driving in 6 runs, scoring twice, and finding his way on base via walks twice. On the mound, Daniels was 1-0 with a spotless 0.00 ERA, striking out 4 batters in 4.2 innings of work. This was all in 3 total games, as he earns his first-ever POW award.

COLESON SMITH – BLITZ PICK

Coleson Smith put together a standout 5-game performance for the Commerce Tigers last week. The junior catcher was 12-for-18, which registers as a .667 average. He had 9 RBI and 2 walks as well, earning his first-ever POW award.
