Juniors Tatum, Scott earn weekly honors

The BLITZ Baseball Player of the Week fan vote collected 12,538 total votes. The top vote-getter was Habersham Central’s Hunter Tatum with 6,513. BLITZ then chose Lumpkin County’s Cooper Scott as co-POW.


Junior Hunter Tatum is off to a sensational start for the Raiders. The Habersham Central junior pitcher went 1-0 last week in 2 appearances, sporting a 0.77 ERA. He allowed just one earned run, 4 hits, and 4 walks in 9 innings of work, and struck out 11 batters. This is his first POW award.

Cooper Scott got it done on both sides of the ball this past week. The junior outfielder/pitcher was huge for Lumpkin County. He batted .357, racking up 6 hits, including a homerun and 3 RBI, scoring 3 runs. He recorded a .400 OBP and .571 SLG. He was flawless in the field defensively. To top it all off, he converted 2 save opportunities on the mound in 3.2 innings of work. This is Scott’s 3rd POW award of his career (2 in football).
