Martin, Tolbert take first girls soccer POW awards of 2022

The BLITZ Girls Soccer Player of the Week Fan Vote collected 42,176 total votes, with Melodie Martin taking 19,688 to win the POW Fan Vote. She edged out Habersham’s Piper Turner (18,467 votes). BLITZ then named Commerce’s Ivy Tolbert Co-POW.

Cohen Cantrell takes the Fan Vote, and earned this honor with his first goal of the season last week for White County. The sophomore center back earns his first-ever POW award.

IVY TOLBERT – BLITZ PICK

Commerce’s Ivy Tolbert led the nation with 65 goals last season. She’s off to an even better start this year with 11 goals in the #1 Lady Tigers’ first 2 games. The sophomore midfielder bagged a pair of hat tricks (one was a double hat trick) and totaled 11 goals and 7 assists. This is her second POW award of 2021-22 (one in football), and the 4th of her career.
