BREAKING: White County announces Chad Bennett as new head football coach

On Friday, White County announced the newest head coach for the Warriors football team, as Chad Bennett will take the reins of the program. After the resignation of coach Tim Cokely, who headed up the program for the past 5 years, White County was set to add its 14th head coach in history, dating back to 1958.

Bennett is familiar to White County, as he was the Warriors’ Offensive Coordinator between 2017-2020, and was the OC at Gainesville this past 2021 season. His 2017 (first season) and 2020 season (last) at White County as the OC, the team averaged 31.4 and 39.7 points per game, respectively. Those mark the 2 highest-scoring outputs in Warriors history.

White County sports a 308-339-10 all-time record, complete with 10 playoff appearances and a 2-10 record in the postseason. Though White County has been a solid program since 2010 (8 playoff appearances between ’10-’21), the Warriors have never won a region championship or have a 10-win season.

Cokely finished his career (if he indeed remains retired) with a 27-27 record at White County, making the playoffs in 4 out of 5 seasons. He has 186 career wins as a high school head coach in 26 seasons spread across Georgia and Florida, and won 6 state titles in the Sunshine State. Cokely stayed on at White County after his November 29 decision to retire in order to help the Warriors in the new head coaching search.
