BREAKING: White County’s Cokely resigns as football coach


On Monday late afternoon, White County football coach Tim Cokely announced his resignation. His written statement is included below. Cokely has led the Warriors program for the past 5 seasons, going 27-27 while making the playoffs in 4 out of 5 seasons.
Cokely has 186 career victories in 26 years as a head coach. He previously coached in Georgia at Colquitt County and GAC, as well as 17 years in Florida. He made a splash early for the Warriors, as his first year he took over a 1-9 program and guided them to a stunning 7-4 turnaround in year one, making the playoffs.
With 17 playoff appearances and SIX state titles in Florida, including four straight from ’98-’01, he is a proven winner. He has coached 10 10-win seasons.
Cokely will remain with the school through the end of the school year, and will assist in helping the next head coach.
