Game Of The Week: Rabun County vs Jeff Davis

Our Game of the Week is in Tiger, as the #1-ranked Wildcats of Rabun County take on visiting Jeff Davis, a similar 10-1 team looking to prove its worth.

RABUN COUNTY

The Wildcats are ranked #1 in the state. Throughout the season, Rabun has improved with each passing game. Gunner Stockton has crushed nearly every state record a QB can have, save one. He’s still 855 yards from passing Trevor Lawrence in all-time passing yards. A semifinal run can get there. But first, Rabun is looking no further than this game here. Coach Jaybo Shaw intentionally had Rabun County with a tough non-region slate to prepare for these late round playoff games. If last week’s win over Pace Academy is any indication, the Wildcats have improved greatly (which is saying a lot), and it would take a miracle to be shut down.

JEFF DAVIS

Jeff Davis is a formidable group. The Yellow Jackets are riding high over the last 2 games, outscoring their opponents 83-0 in that span. The defense is where this team thrives, as it has one of the top units in the state. Once upon a time, Jeff Davis was ranked as high as #5 in the state in Class 2A. A loss to Swainsboro, their only loss so far, changed that. Now, the team is ranked #9 in the state. This team runs the ball and not much else. They can throw when they have to, but primarily stick to the ground game.

OUR PREDICTION

Rabun County is battle-tested like no other group in the state. Jeff Davis is a really good team, and the defense is elite. BUT…they haven’t played anyone like Rabun County all season long. OUR PICK: Rabun County

DO WE BRING LUCK?

We’ve seen Rabun County in action 53 times over the years, and the Cats have gone 42-11 in those games.
