October Power Rankings – Volleyball

It’s getting crunch time. With the season winding down, we deliver our October Volleyball Power Rankings!

Record: 16-11 (5-2)
Last Ranking: #1

The Lady Dragons remain state-ranked and have a good position in the region standings, currently second. Jefferson seeks to unleash some frustration after a few losses in a row recently. The overall record is nothing flashy, but the tough schedule plays a role in that. Until a local team can take down the Lady Dragons, they remain at the top.

Record: 19-12 (4-2)
Last Ranking: #2

The Lady Raiders hold serve at #2 in our Power Rankings, and are looking good at third in the region right now. Hab has beat just about every local team around (except splitting with Dawson and Lumpkin). There have been several girls, not just star Abbey Donaldson, leading the efforts.

Record: 19-8 (2-1)
Last Ranking: #4

The Lady Indians are worthy of the hype. They took down #1-ranked and unbeaten Murphy (NC) recently, and have won 6 of the last 7 matches, including closing out September with a big win over #8 Prince Avenue Christian. TFS is second in the area standings for now, and are looking as good as they’ve ever been, as they have beaten FIVE state-ranked opponents this season.

Record: 18-8 (6-1)
Last Ranking: #3

The Lady Tigers are looking really good at the top spot in 7-AAA with a 6-1 mark. Dawson has been fantastic this season, and have all their goals in front of them. The Lady Tigers had won 6 straight before a little hiccup against Lanier to close out September. The resiliency of this group is just impressive.

Record: 16-18 (5-2)
Last Ranking: #5

The Lady Indians are within striking distance of the region title. At 16-18, the record isn’t indicative of what this team can do. Lumpkin is 5-2 in region play, and have done very well against local competition.

Record: 13-10 (5-3)
Last Ranking: #7

The Lady Warriors, along with Lumpkin and Dawson, have really beaten each other up. White County did split 4 matches with Lumpkin, and split with Dawson. White had won 3 in a row before losing to Hab to end September, and sits right there in the mix for a state playoff spot.

Record: 12-7 (8-0)
Last Ranking: #9

Union is playing spectacular ball within area play, remaining atop the heap and are state ranked. It’s been a string of 7 wins straight lately prior to a pair of non-region losses, and these Lady Panthers are looking to make another deep playoff run.

Record: 11-18 (5-3)
Last Ranking: #6

The Lady Cats have played much better recently, and are in a good position to vie for a home playoff match in the first round should they finish strong.

Record: 15-14 (6-2)
Last Ranking: #8

Banks is having a phenomenal season in just year 2 of its volleyball program. Taking 2 losses to Rabun has the Lady Leopards under the Lady Wildcats. This is truly a team that should continue to improve as time passes, and will be a threat in the state tournament.

Record: 6-12 (4-4)
Last Ranking: #11

Stephens County has dropped a couple in a row, but is starting to find traction, especially within region play. As it stands now, the Lady Indians could grab a playoff spot.

Record: 3-22 (1-7)
Last Ranking: #10

The Lady Tigers had recently lost 6 in a row, but snapped that to gain some momentum to use for the future.
