Week Six has come and gone…here’s what transpired!

The Most Dramatic – Dawson County edges White County 31-28

The Biggest Blowout – #1 Rabun beats Pickens (SC) 70-14

The Biggest Upset – Habersham gets beat 45-14 by Winder


#1 Rabun County Wildcats 70, Pickens (SC) Blue Flame 14

The Wildcats fell one point shy of tying their all-time single-game record for points in a 70-14 win, marking the third time ever Rabun has hit the number. Gunner Stockton slung the ball for 350 yards and threw 6 TDs to 5 different receivers. Lang Windham had 4 TD, and Stockton finished with 7 (6 passing, one rushing). The Cats led 28-7 at the break, and used a 35-point third quarter on the way to the blowout win. They scored on every true drive they had.

#1 Jefferson Dragons 27, #7 Flowery Branch Falcons 7

The Dragons outlasted Flowery Branch 27-7 to earn a top-10 win. Tre Reece’s first quarter TD gave Jefferson the early 7-0 lead, and Sammy Brown added TD runs of 3 yards, 57, and 5 to lift the Dragons to a 27-0 lead. Flowery Branch scored late. Brown finished with 133 rushing yards and Malaki Starks had 104.

Dawson County Tigers 31, White County Warriors 28

The Tigers won a thriller to open 7-AAA play. A Tripp Nix 25-yd TD pass to Darius Cannon in the first put White County up 7-0. Conley Dyer tied it up for Dawson with a 43-yd TD. In the wildcat formation, Bryson Cronic notched a 36-yd TD to put the Warriors back up 14-7. Early in the second, Zach Holtzclaw threw a 55-yd TD to Bailey Dameron, making it 14-14 into the break. In the third, Nix again connected with Cannon on a 14-yd TD. Cronic then came up with an interception, and scored from a yard out on a run a bit later for the 28-14 White County lead. Holtzclaw then connected with Dameron on a 78-yd TD to pull within 28-21. To end the third, Holtzclaw threw his third TD, this time to Braedon Hubbard for a 40-yard TD to tie the game. Dom LeBlanc nailed a 34-yard FG with 28 seconds left in the game to give the Tigers the win.

Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs 45, Habersham Central Raiders 14

Not at all what we expected, as Winder ran all over the Raiders in a 45-14 upset win.

Murphy (NC) Bulldogs 54, Union County Panthers 24

Murphy hung 54 on the Panthers, though it’s worth noting that the Union offense had some life in it with 24 points.

Commerce Tigers 20, Mt. Paran Eagles 13

The Tigers pulled out a narrow win, but look rejuvenated opposed to earlier games. Jaiden Daniels got the scoring started with a first quarter TD run. It was 7-6 at the break in favor of Commerce, but Kemanni Horne found pay dirt to put the Tigers up 13-6 in the third. Mt. Paran stormed back to tie it at 13 in the fourth. Malachi Shockey notched the game-winning score to give Commerce a thrilling win. Daniels had over 150 on the ground and a TD.

Towns Co Indians 14, Bethlehem Christian Academy Knights 11

The Indians advanced to 4-1, securing only the fifth 4-plus win season in school history. Towns County grinded out the win on the road in 14-11 fashion.

#8 Haralson County Rebels 56, Banks County Leopards 0

The Leopards fell in a 56-0 final against #8 Haralson County.
