Volleyball Preview 2021: Lumpkin County

The reigning Region 7-AAA Champions return to try to defend the top spot. It won’t be easy after graduating four key players. However, the bar has been set and the Lady Indians will hope for just as much success in 2021. The 2020 version won the most games in school history (26), were ranked as high as #7 in the state, and earned their first-ever region title.

Head Coach: Haley Dibble, 3rd Season
2020 Record:
26-10; 2nd Round; Region Champions

“I am hopeful that we will continue to grow this season as we do every season,” says coach Haley Dibble. “I hope that we are able to bring home another first-place area finish this year and go even farther into the state tournament.”

Key Departures: MaKenzie Caldwell, Isabel Davenport

“We lost four seniors last season and we will miss those four tremendously this season,” says Dibble. “MaKenzie Caldwell is one of those and we will miss her presence at the net. Her coverage and power at the net are going to be hard to match.”

Key Returning Players: Kiersta Trammell, Reagan Spivey, Addie Rucker

“Kiersta Trammell will be returning as a senior and will be critical to our success this season,” says Dibble. “We also have Reagan Spivey and Addie Rucker (seniors) returning to dominate at the net.”

Strength & Area of Focus

Strength: “We have a close group of girls who have been playing together for years now,” says Dibble. “We have a good sense of who we are as a team and how to play together. We also have some younger girls ready to step up and be on a competitive team. I’m very excited to see the team come together this season.”

Focus: “We will continue to work on all aspects of our game,” adds Dibble. “We have strengths at the net, so we will focus on our defensive game hard in the off season so we are ready when games start.”
