Soccer State Playoffs – Sweet 16 Results

With xx teams playing in the Sweet 16, here are the matchups and results as they unfolded.

BANKS CO 0, MODEL 9 (GIRLS)

#3 Banks County, after a win over Callaway put them in the Sweet 16, took on Model, where Model cruised to a 9-0 win. That ends Banks County’s season.

COMMERCE 0, GA MILITARY 10 (BOYS)

#4 Commerce pulled off a gigantic upset with a 4-3 win over Chattahoochee County on the road at the #1 seed’s house, reaching the Sweet 16 to take on Georgia Military. Once there, Ga Military took a mercy-rule 10-0 win over Commerce.

COMMERCE 1, ATLANTA CLASSICAL 2 (PK) (GIRLS)

#1 Commerce had a first round bye, and took on #2 seed Atlanta Classical in the Sweet 16. It was a shocking result, as the consensus top team in the state fell in PKs. This ends Commerce’s season.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL 1, JOHNS CREEK 7 (BOYS)

#3 Habersham Central edged out Rome 3-2 on the road to advance to the Sweet 16 against Johns Creek, where the Raiders fell 7-1 to end their season.

JEFFERSON vs MARIST (BOYS)

#2 Jefferson cruised to a mercy-rule win over Mt. Zion, advancing to the Sweet 16 against Marist. Against Marist, the score has not yet been posted.

JEFFERSON 0, NW WHITFIELD 2 (GIRLS)

#3 Jefferson cruised to a 7-0 win over Hampton to advance to the Sweet 16 against NW Whitfield. In that game, the Lady Dragons fell 2-0 to end their season.

LUMPKIN CO 0, GAC 4 (GIRLS)

#1 Lumpkin County cruised to a 10-0 win over visiting Coahulla Creek, advancing to the Sweet 16 against #2 seed GAC. Once there, GAC held Lumpkin off the board with a 4-0 win, ending the Lady Indians’ season.

RABUN CO 1, PACE ACADEMY 11 (GIRLS)

#1 Rabun County downed Haralson 6-0 to reach the Sweet 16 against Pace Academy, where Pace took an 11-1 win to end the Lady Cats’ season.

STEPHENS CO 4, NORTH HALL 5 (GIRLS)

#2 Stephens County had no problems in a 9-0 win over Sandy Creek, thus advancing to the Sweet 16 against #4 seed North Hall. North Hall, a #4 seed, edged Stephens in a 5-4 thriller to end the Lady Indians’ season.

TOWNS CO 5, ARMUCHEE 0 (BOYS)

#1 Towns County received a bye and auto advanced to the Sweet 16 to take on #2 seed Armuchee. The Indians earned a clean sheet win over Armuchee, 5-0, to advance to the Elite 8 against Atkinson County.

TOWNS CO 3, DREW CHARTER 2 (GIRLS)

#4 Towns County went on the road and pulled off a mammoth upset with a 3-0 win at Chattahoochee County. That put Towns against #3 seed Drew Charter in the Sweet 16, where the Lady Indians won 3-2 to advance to the Elite 8 against Screven County.

UNION COUNTY 0, LOVETT 2 (BOYS)

#1 Union County sailed to a 10-1 win over Haralson County, advancing to play Lovett in the Sweet 16. Against Lovett, the Panthers played their hearts out but fell 2-0 to end their season.

UNION CO 0, LOVETT 10 (GIRLS)

#2 Union County took a 3-1 win to advance to the Sweet 16 against Lovett, where the Lady Panthers dropped a 10-0 decision to end their season.

WHITE CO 2, GAC 3 (BOYS)

#1 White County had little trouble with Murray, winning 6-1 to advance to take on GAC in the Sweet 16. In the second round, it was a 3-2 heartbreak to powerhouse GAC that ended the Warriors’ season.

WHITE CO 2, OCONEE CO 3 (GIRLS)

#3 White County went on the road to #2 Ringgold and came out with a huge 8-0 win to advance to the Sweet 16 against #1 seed Oconee County. The Lady Warriors’ season closed with a 3-2 heart-breaking loss.
