HADDEN CARSWELL – FAN VOTE

Habersham Central senior first baseman Hadden Carswell earns his first POW award, and it goes beyond the stats. Just over a year ago, in February 2020, Carswell was in a near-fatal accident on a stormy night after leaving practice. For the next several weeks, he was in a medically-induced coma, and suffered a traumatic brain injury that meant he had to learn to talk and walk again. He had multiple surgeries on his left leg, and finally came home in July 2020.
He has barely been well enough to be able to play this season, but passed a physical and earned a senior night start at first base. Coach Chris Akridge’s plan was to start him at first and get him one at-bat, but he ended up leaving him in for the entirety of the game. He went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored! What an uplifting story Hadden has been for the community!
