Jefferson’s Malaki Starks Selects UGA
Consensus 5-star athlete Malaki Starks of Jefferson has made his choice, and his future is at Georgia. The Dragons’ star QB/DB, who is graded at a .9850 (247Sports) and considered the #4 athlete in the country and 29th overall recruit, held offers from 16 of the country’s top programs. That list included Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Georgia, Auburn, Florida, USC, Florida State, LSU, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Nebraska, and Virginia Tech.
Georgia was widely considered the favorite to land Starks, who is a 4-star recruit according to ESPN and Rivals, but 5-star by 247 Sports. However, Starks had narrowed it down to Georgia, Clemson, and Alabama, and made it known that he really held two of those down to the finalist group secretly.
His self-imposed commitment date of March 25 has held, and he has determined that UGA is the place for him.
Starks is an All-State Athlete, and passed for 569 yards and 11 TD while rushing for 1,537 yards and 24 TD in his junior season for the Dragons. He added 41 tackles (3 for loss), had 2 interceptions, and added 3 deflections. He led Jefferson to a state championship appearance as the team went 14-1 overall.
Starks has over 2,000 rushing yards and over 50 total TD in his time at Jefferson, and has been outstanding on both sides of the ball.
