Commerce jumped into first place, mostly due to the success of wrestling and girls basketball. Jefferson had a great winter, sliding barely back into second after leading at the end of fall. Banks County jumped three spots into third, but the biggest leap was Towns County going from 11th to 6th after the boys basketball team won a state championship. Union County had the furthest drop, going from 4th to 9th after a COVID-riddled basketball season for both boys and girls. Should Commerce hold on to the lead throughout the spring, it would be their first-ever BLITZ Cup win!
The BLITZ Cup is awarded annually since 2009-10 to one school in our coverage area that finishes the school year with the highest point total. Points are awarded for any and all sports, with points earned for winning seasons, region titles, state playoff berths, state rankings, Player of the Year awards and more!
