Lumpkin’s Jones, Commerce’s Hobbs Named Players Of The Week

The Player of the Week Fan Vote for Girls Basketball Player of the Week tallied 6,530 votes, with Lumpkin County’s (3,298 votes) winning the Fan Vote. BLITZ then picked Commerce’s Carson Hobbs as Co-POW.
AVERIE JONES – FAN VOTE

Lumpkin freshman phenom Averie Jones continues to tear it up. When it mattered most for the #2-ranked Lady Indians in the state playoffs, Jones came up with 41 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists across the first two rounds. That’s good for an average of 21 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. This is Jones’ second POW award this season.

CARSON HOBBS – BLITZ PICK

Commerce junior forward Carson Hobbs in the Sweet 16 game for the Lady Tigers was a star. She produced a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, adding 4 steals and 3 assists, while also taking a charge in the win. This is Hobbs’ second POW award this season, with the first coming in softball in Fall 2020.
