Bray, Turkett Pitch, Hit Way To Weekly Awards

The Player of the Week Fan Vote for Baseball Player of the Week tallied 44,275 votes, with White County’s Nate Bray tallying 22,341 to win the Fan Vote. BLITZ then picked Dawson’s Carter Turkett as Co-POW.


White County’s Nate Bray came up aces last week. In 2 games, he hit .462 at the plate, driving in 3 runs, scoring 5 times, and drawing 4 walks while also swiping a base. The sophomore 1B/P was 1-0 with a flawless 0.00 ERA, striking out 3 while scattering 4 hits in 5.2 innings of work. This is Bray’s first POW award.

Dawson County senior utility man and pitcher Carter Turkett did it all last week in earning his first POW award. Turkett hit .444 (4-for-9), drilled 2 homeruns and collected 4 RBI. He scored 8 runs and drew 4 walks in 3-game span. On the bump, he fired a 1-hit shutout, giving him a 1-0 mark with a 0.00 ERA. He struck out 8 batters and walked only 2 across the 5-inning start.
